People today are faced with many day to day decisions, but are they equipped to consistently decide on what is best for them? Are the decisions that they make based on a vision of themselves in the future? Are they investing in their talents and dreams?
Managing the future is a tool for helping people
to become clear about what really matters to them as it integrates personal,
career, and family aspects of our lives. It is as individualized as the people
who come to the workshop are.

It
was May 1996, when I first shared my work with a Howard University graduating
Law Student. We had met earlier while chaperoning a Youth Leadership Conference.
Our bus from Detroit to Washington, DC had mechanical problems; and while
we waited, I talked with him about his future. He had big dreams. I encouraged
him saying that success was within his grasp and shared some strategies
for staying focused and shaping his goals. He honored me with an invitation
to speak at his graduation party. My gift to him was a session that as
he put it, gave him “a blueprint for his dreams.” |
